Let’s delve deeper into our main character, going beyond the GOAL to the reason for that goal. The Why. The MOTIVATION.
Love, hate, greed, revenge, duty… All powerful motivators.
The more strongly you motivate this, the stronger your story will be. And the easier it will be to plot that character’s progression to the goal because motivation is what attaches the character to the plot. Motivate well, fellow writers, because tomorrow we’ll be talking CONFLICT. Your character will need a strong motivation to get past (or around or through) all the obstacles and villains we put in his/her way.
